Lake Engineering, Inc. is a consulting engineering firmspecializing in environmental and process engineering located in Atlanta, Georgia. Amajority of the firm's work involves services to clients in the lead, copper, aluminum andsteel industries.In 1986, LakeEngineering formed a subsidiary company to serve as the marketing representative for theprocesses and products of Engitec Impianti, S.p.A. of Milan, Italy. Engitec,formerly part of the Tonolli Group, is respected throughout the metals industry for itsinnovative processes and equipment. This subsidiary later becameElectrowinning Technologies, Inc., a 50/50 joint venture of Lake Engineering, Inc. andEngitec Impianti, S.p.A. Mr. Sappington serves as Managing Director of this companyin addition to his duties at Lake Engineering. The mission of ElectrowinningTechnologies, Inc. is to provide the metals industry in North America with innovativeprocesses that are economically viable and environmentally sound. The main processes offered by thecompany include Ezinex*, a process to electrochemically recover high-grade metallic zincfrom electric arc furnace dust and other zinc-bearing byproducts; Ecuprex*, a process forelectrochemically recovering high-grade copper cathode from communication and power cablescrap; STE*, an aluminum salt slag recovery process; and CX, a process that recovers lead,desulfurized lead paste, plastic and sodium sulfate salt crystals from spent-lead acidbatteries. Additionalprocesses are currently under development.Mr. Sappington's government andindustry experience in environmental engineering spans twenty-three years. After three years with the AlabamaAir Pollution Control Commission, he joinedan environmental consulting firm, where he was responsible for the design and oversight ofair pollution control projects for four years. Prior to founding Lake Engineering,he worked in the secondary lead smelting industry for three years as a vice president incharge of environmental affairs.
