 Former Manufacturing Facility (Southeastern U.S.)
  • Provided construction management for the treatment of 30,000 tons of slag and slag-affected soil impacted by lead, cadmium, chromium, and zinc.
  • Determined that a low dosage would be effective, which resulted in treatment bulking of less than 2 percent additional weight, saving additional costs for landfilling.
  • Treated over 60, 500-ton batches in 5 weeks, and disposed treated soil and slag at a Subtitle D permitted landfill. Material properties encouraged favorable pricing from landfills.
  • Treatment was performed at less than 90 percent of budget estimates.

Battery Manufacturer (Illinois)
  • Remediated 30,000 tons of lead-impacted soil, both in situ with surface mixing and ex situ with a pugmill.
  • Used the treated material to construct a surface water diversion berm. This saved the time and expense of hauling the treated material to a Subtitle D landfill.
  • Saved the client approximately $600,000.

Automotive Parts Manufacturer (Indiana)
  • Remediated 9,000 tons of chromium-impacted soil.
  • Reduced the chromium to an immobile form, which avoided RCRA hazardous waste permitting requirements.
  • Reduced costs and analytical time by utilizing field screening for determining hexavalent chromium and treatment additive concentrations.
  • Saved approximately $500,000 compared to traditional excavation alternatives.
